ARTISTS CALL TO ENTRY
To
those of you who joined us last year and those who are new, we’d like to
invite you to apply for Taos Folk 2012.
Taos
Folk showcases up to 50 local artists working in a variety of media
offering affordable (under $100.00), handmade, holiday gifts as a creative
and unique alternative to traditional buying ideas. The show is held at
the Stables Gallery (part of the TCA – Taos Center for the Arts) at 133
Paseo del Pueblo Norte and will be open 7 days a week from 10-5 from
Friday, November 23rd 2012 (with an opening reception
celebration that night) through Saturday, December 24th 2012.
2011
was a stellar year for Taos Folk. In our second year, at the Stables
Gallery, we doubled our sales and our customer base. We learned a lot from
our first year in 2010 resulting in a web site, improved artist
communication, amped up advertising and a stream lined overall look and
display. Our customers were pleased and some came back over and over again
to take in the atmosphere, buy work they hadn’t seen the first time and
bring their family and friends. It was fabulous! Thanks to all of you who
participated and helped make the experience wonderful.
We
are jurying submissions for our 2012 show. The work will be selected based
on craftsmanship, originality, price point and on creating a balanced,
holiday, handmade gift buying show.
DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2012 - Please email up to 3 images of your work – if
you work in several different styles or media please send 3 images per
style/media to be considered

It’s
important that you email your submissions to both addresses. Also, please
include your name, contact information (address and phone), description of
work including size, materials and retail price range. (The majority of
our sales last year were for items under $50).
We
will let you know of the jury results by June 1st, 2012. If you
are accepted please know that there will be a $75.00 fee upfront for
participating (due July 1, 2012), a 75/25 Artist/Taos Folk sales
percentage and 1 day will be required to volunteer either with sales,
gallery set up or take down.
